"First, Do No Harm" CampaignAs many of our colleagues have already articulated, we are horrified, saddened and deeply disappointed by both the findings of the Hoffman report and the organizational responses thus far.
We are asking psychologists across career phases to stand with us to unequivocally state and show our commitment to the basic principle of our Ethics code: "Do No Harm." We all need to continue to speak up, and to fight for the changes that are so desperately needed in APA. We also need to firmly declare our personal and organizational commitments to social justice and human rights. Please Join Us: Below, you will find a “Do No Harm” logo, which we are inviting you to share far and wide – tweet it, share it on Facebook, keep it as your profile picture (especially during convention!), and in any other mediums you see fit. The following link will take you to a Cafepress website where you can buy a T-shirt that proclaims "First, Do No Harm." We are asking individuals interested in this message to purchase a t-shirt to wear on Saturday (8/8/15) at APA's Annual Convention, in particular to the Town Hall (3-5pm in the Convention Centre). Please purchase shirts ASAP, in order to account for shipping in time for convention. $1 from every purchase will go to the Center for Victims of Torture, an organization that supports survivors of torture. Please click here or on the link below to purchase a shirt: http://www.cafepress.com/1stdonoharm Also, even if you are not attending convention, please consider ordering a shirt to support this important cause and to send a message to APA leadership about our fundamental core values as professionals. Wear it, take a pic, and post it to Facebook on the same Saturday - and tag APA. Even better, do it with your entire cohort or work colleagues! In this time of horror and heartbreak, we encourage all of our colleagues to speak up, be visible in your outrage, and stand with us for change and for building a better future for psychology.
